The Dive Shop Old Providence Terms and Conditions
Last Update Date: July 4th, 2026
Welcome to The Dive Shop Old Providence’s website. By accessing or using our website and purchasing our services, you agree to these terms and conditions. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree with any part of the terms, we kindly ask that you do not use our website and contact us to address any questions or concerns.
- General Information
1.1 These terms govern your use of our website, including all bookings and purchases made through our e-commerce platform, in the dive resort, by email, or by phone/WhatsApp.
1.2 We may update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. Changes are effective immediately upon posting on the website.
- Eligibility
2.1 You must be at least 18 years old to purchase on our website.
2.2 By placing an order, you warrant that you can legally enter into binding contracts.
- Requirements for diving
3.1 Certified divers: Please submit a copy of your certification with the registration form once your spot in the experience is confirmed.
- To participate, you must have dived at least once in the last six months. If you haven't, you'll need to do A refresh; if it's been more than one year, you'll need to do a Reactivate. Please inform us so we can provide guidance.
Courses and certified divers:
- Complete the PADI medical form and meet the requirements based on your health condition. If you answer "YES" to any question on the form, you must obtain a medical certificate confirming your fitness to dive; otherwise, you will not be allowed to enter the water.
- Customers must read and sign the required forms for their specific activity.
- We recommend scheduling your return flight no earlier than 24 hours after your last dive.
Courses:
- When you purchase the certification, you will receive the PADI theoretical study materials. These materials must be ready by the day of your experience and final exam, and you will not be allowed in the water without them. This study typically requires approximately 10-12 hours to complete.
- Reservations
4.1 We focus on small groups and personal service, and spaces can fill up quickly. To avoid disappointment, make your reservation in advance.
4.2 Reservations can be made personally in the dive resort, on our website, or by phone/WhatsApp and require a 20% deposit for the value of the service.
4.3 A deposit is required to reserve your space, payable in cash or by credit/debit card at the dive resort, or via a payment link, bank transfer, PSE, or QR code.
4.4 If you would like to reserve a diving activity less than 24 hours before the start date, please contact us first by phone call or WhatsApp to confirm availability.
- Orders and Payment
5.1 Order Process: After placing an order, you will receive an email confirming the details and a link to complete a form with your details, emergency contact, and liability information.
5.2 Payment: Your reservation balance is payable in full during check-in. We accept major Debit/Credit cards and other payment methods, such as bank transfer, QR, payment link, PSE, or cash.
5.3 Order Acceptance: We may accept or decline your order at our discretion.
5.4 Pricing: All prices on our website are in COP and include applicable taxes unless otherwise stated. We reserve the right to change prices at any time.
- Changing the reservation
6.1 We know that things happen and plans change! If you contact us at least 24 hours before your diving activity starts, we will be happy to reschedule your activities free of charge, subject to weather conditions and availability.
- Refund and Cancellation Policy
7.1 General Services: For any service, except diving for groups, customers may cancel up to 30 days before the scheduled service to receive a full refund of the deposit.
7.2 If you cancel your reservation between 15 and 29 days before the reserved date, 50% of the deposit will be refunded.
7.3 If you cancel between 24 hours and 14 days prior to the diving day, or if you fail to show up, the deposit will be non-refundable and non-transferable to another person. No credits will be applied to future reservations.
7.4 Group Bookings: Special conditions apply for group bookings and will be outlined in the contract sent to and signed by the customer.
7.5 Courses:
- If a student withdraws after the course materials have been sent, only the cost of the course materials will be charged, which corresponds to the 20% deposit.
- No refunds will be issued once the course has started, unless otherwise stated in these terms. However, if a student wishes to finish the course elsewhere, a transfer form valid for 12 months can be issued, allowing them to continue at another PADI Diving Center. The student will be responsible for any additional fees at the new diving center.
7.6 No-Show Policy:
- A “No-Show” occurs when the customer does not show up on the scheduled service date or time without 24 hours' prior notice.
- No refunds, credits, or rescheduling will be offered for No-Shows, unless otherwise stated in these terms.
7.7 Late arrival:
- We understand that sometimes things happen; however, please keep in mind that our diving tours run on a schedule and, for logistical reasons, if you are running late, we will do our best but may not be able to wait for you. If you arrive late and your tour has already left, the deposit is non-refundable, non-transferable to another person, and no credit will be given toward future reservations.
7.8 Non-completion of the activity
- If a diver chooses not to complete the full activity, no partial refund will be given. If a diver chooses not to complete a dive course, any partial refund given will be at the discretion of The Dive Shop Old Providence.
- Dive Cancellations by The Dive Shop Old Providence: The Dive Shop Old Providence reserves the right to cancel any dive if conditions are unsafe, including but not limited to rough seas, excessive rain, low visibility, or strong currents. In such cases, the customer will not be charged for the dive, and rescheduling or a refund of the deposit will be provided, unless otherwise stated in these terms.
- Alcohol and Drug Policy
8.1 Prohibition: The consumption of alcohol or the use of drugs (including marijuana) before or between dives is strictly prohibited.
8.2 Consequences: If a customer consumes alcohol or uses drugs before or between dives, their remaining dives for the day will be canceled without a refund.
- Diving equipment rental - lost or damaged equipment
9.1 The rental of basic scuba equipment is included in all our activities (BCD, regulator, fins, mask, weight, and wetsuit).
9.2 Diving computers, torches, or other additional gear can be rented for an additional charge on a daily basis.
9.3 You are responsible for your rental equipment. If it is lost or damaged, replacement will be charged to your bill at the original price.
- Diving insurance
The Dive Shop Old Providence is committed to safe diving practices and injury prevention. It is not mandatory, but we recommend that if you intend to go scuba diving, you have an insurance policy that covers this activity.
10.1 If you would like to purchase diving insurance, we can offer it through our partner Divers Alert Network (DAN).
10.2 DAN's Short Term Dive Accident Coverage is available to divers between the ages of 8 and 70, who are certified divers, divers in training, freedivers, and freedivers in training. You can register and pay for your own Short Term Dive Accident Coverage through this link in red.
10.3 You can get one-year coverage with DAN’s Dive Accident Assistance Packages in this link in red.
10.4 Student Medical Coverage – Entry level: Our Open Water Diver students will be enrolled in DAN’s Student Medical Coverage. They will be covered for injuries sustained during their entry-level training.
- Provides up to $25,000 in coverage for medical expenses for injuries that may occur during training.
- Coverage is valid for up to 180 days after enrolment or upon completion of the last certifying dive, whichever comes first.
- Covers dive-related injuries that occur both in and out of the water.
- Covers entry-level scuba or breath-hold diving.
- Coverage is 100% subsidized by DAN — there is no cost to the operator.
When you subscribe to the course, one day before practices and dives begin, you will receive an email confirmation and a digital card as proof of coverage.
